মায়ার দর্পণ (The Mirror of Illusion)

Act 1: ছায়ার আগমন (The Arrival of Shadows)

Setting: Kolkata (India)

•  Titli Bagchi, a skilled visual merchandiser, senses eerie disturbances in her family mansion—shadowy figures, unnatural whispers, distorted reflections, and fleeting glimpses of a supernatural presence. Her keen eye detects subtle inconsistencies between ordinary physical space and phenomena that seem to defy rational explanation.

•  Ritoban Kar, a respected cultural historian, initially approaches Titli’s experiences with rational skepticism but quietly remains protective. As he examines historical accounts connected to the mansion, he begins to suspect that Titli’s heightened perception may allow her to notice supernatural phenomena that others instinctively overlook.

•  Jayabrato Bagchi, Titli’s father, grows increasingly concerned, urging the family to exercise caution as the disturbances become more targeted, intelligent, and personal.

•  Shilpi Bagchi, Titli’s mother, investigates the mansion’s history, uncovering accounts of unexplained creatures, apparitions, ritualistic phenomena, and a mysterious man named Shyamal Ghosh who appeared wherever such incidents were recorded.

•  Shyamal Ghosh, an obsessive curator of supernatural creatures and phenomena, operates from the shadows. Fascinated by entities that exist beyond conventional understanding, he seeks to observe, document, preserve, and sometimes provoke supernatural manifestations. He deliberately combines genuine paranormal phenomena with psychological manipulation, making his victims incapable of knowing which horrors are real.

•  ACP Biswajit Mondal investigates a string of disappearances across Kolkata. Witnesses describe impossible creatures, shared visions, inexplicable sounds, and environments that seemed to change around them shortly before the victims vanished. Several cases contain subtle links to Shyamal’s activities.

•  Across Kolkata, disturbances—misaligned reflections, impossible shadows, strange sounds, collective memory lapses, unexplained sightings, and shared visions—suggest that something beyond ordinary psychological manipulation is occurring. Shyamal appears less interested in simply frightening people than in studying how humans react when confronted with the impossible.

Act 2: মায়ার অন্তরালে (Behind the Illusion)

Settings: Kolkata, Darjeeling & Kalimpong (India)

•  Titli becomes increasingly haunted by supernatural visions but notices an unsettling distinction: some manifestations contain repetition, staging, and deliberate visual tricks, while others violate patterns altogether. Her professional understanding of lighting, proportion, placement, and visual composition becomes essential in separating Shyamal’s manipulations from genuinely inexplicable phenomena.

•  Ritoban witnesses objects moving without mechanical explanation and spaces appearing subtly altered. His skepticism begins to erode as historical evidence suggests that supernatural entities associated with the mansion have been documented long before Shyamal arrived.

•  Debashis Kar, Ritoban’s father, maintains cautious skepticism, grounding the family with rational insight while acknowledging that conventional explanations are becoming increasingly inadequate.

•  Rituparna Kar, Ritoban’s mother, provides emotional stability, comforting Ritoban and helping the family confront frightening experiences without allowing fear to control their judgment.

•  Ritabhari Kar, Ritoban’s curious and perceptive twin sister, accidentally discovers hidden spaces, forgotten records, and unusual clues. Her curiosity adds both tension and occasional comic relief, but some of her discoveries reveal disturbing evidence of creatures previously encountered by Shyamal.

• Shilpi discovers a journal documenting Shyamal’s transformation from an investigator of folklore and unexplained phenomena into an obsessive curator determined to catalogue supernatural beings, manifestations, and anomalies regardless of the human cost.

• Meghna Sanyal, Titli’s friend, supports her emotionally as reality becomes increasingly unreliable. Meghna helps Titli trust her perception without automatically accepting every frightening experience as supernatural.

•  Prabir Barua, Ritoban’s loyal friend, discovers hidden passages, surveillance equipment, concealed projection systems, and mechanical devices within the mansion. His discoveries prove that Shyamal deliberately stages some phenomena—raising the far more disturbing question of which manifestations he did not create.

•  Shilpi consults Roktim Roychowdhury, who explains how Shyamal studied ritualistic and mystical traditions while searching for genuine supernatural phenomena. Roktim reveals that Shyamal learned to combine folklore, ritual, psychology, and theatrical techniques so effectively that witnesses could no longer distinguish supernatural encounters from manufactured ones.

• Rupak Roychowdhury and his wife Diya help Titli analyze Shyamal’s methods. They explain how he exploits personal fears when staging encounters while also using those fears to provoke reactions from supernatural entities whose behavior he wishes to study.

• Gungun Roychowdhury, Rupak and Diya’s daughter, forms a powerful emotional bond with Titli. Her unusual intuition helps Titli recognize subtle differences between deliberately manufactured illusions and genuine supernatural threats.

•  In Darjeeling, the group discovers an isolated estate once used by Shyamal to observe and document unexplained manifestations. Records reveal that he deliberately created controlled environments where supernatural entities and unsuspecting human subjects could be observed together.

•  In Kalimpong, ancient monastic records reveal traditions concerning consciousness, perception, spirits, and entities believed to exist beyond ordinary sensory awareness. Titli and Ritoban realize that Shyamal did not merely distort this knowledge into psychological experiments—he used parts of it to locate, provoke, and study phenomena that may actually exist.

Act 3: অজানার সীমানা (The Edge of the Unknown)

Settings: Kolkata (India) | Bangkok (Thailand) | Tokyo (Japan) | London (UK) | Amsterdam (Netherlands)

• Back in Kolkata, Titli realizes that Shyamal has deliberately chosen her as a subject because of her exceptional visual perception. He believes she possesses the rare ability to recognize the boundary between fabricated illusions and genuine supernatural manifestations.

• ACP Biswajit Mondal uncovers links between international disappearances, unexplained sightings, staged hauntings, and locations associated with Shyamal’s investigations. Evidence suggests that Shyamal has established an international network for tracking supernatural creatures and phenomena.

• Ritoban traces historical parallels between Shyamal’s discoveries and centuries-old accounts of supernatural entities appearing across different cultures under different names. He begins to suspect that Shyamal is attempting to create a unified catalogue of phenomena traditionally dismissed as folklore.

• In Bangkok, Titli encounters terrifying phenomena inside a luxury hotel where Shyamal has been investigating an entity associated with reflections and enclosed spaces. Some incidents are carefully staged by Shyamal, while others continue even after his mechanisms are disabled.

•  In Tokyo, Titli becomes increasingly skilled at anticipating Shyamal’s psychological tricks. However, her confidence is challenged when she encounters manifestations that refuse to follow his established patterns, forcing her to accept that Shyamal himself may not completely control what he has uncovered.

•  At the London Dungeon, Shyamal exploits the attraction’s immersive horror environments to conceal a genuine supernatural experiment. Titli and Ritoban must navigate theatrical scares, engineered traps, and an unexplained presence moving independently through the attraction.

•  At the Amsterdam Dungeon, Shyamal creates a psychological maze in which artificial horrors overlap with an entity he has deliberately drawn into the environment. Titli and Ritoban must determine which dangers can be defeated through logic and which require understanding the supernatural phenomenon itself.

•  A canal boat ride through Amsterdam offers Titli and Ritoban a rare period of calm. Comparing everything they have witnessed, they recognize Shyamal’s central strategy: he hides reality inside illusion and illusion inside reality, ensuring that anyone investigating him eventually doubts their own conclusions.

Act 4: সম্মুখীনতা (The Confrontation)

Settings: Kolkata (India) | Paris (France) | Venice (Italy) | Prague (Czechia)

• Returning to Kolkata, the Bagchi family prepares for the inevitable confrontation with Shyamal, now understanding that he is neither merely an illusionist nor simply an occult researcher. He is a curator obsessed with discovering, documenting, and controlling supernatural creatures and phenomena.

• Titli’s perception reaches its peak. She can identify Shyamal’s visual manipulations, psychological triggers, concealed mechanisms, and environmental distortions almost immediately—but genuine supernatural manifestations remain unpredictable.

• Ritoban deciphers cryptic symbols throughout Shyamal’s records and discovers the philosophy underlying his work: humanity fears the supernatural primarily because it cannot determine where reality ends and interpretation begins.

• ACP Mondal connects Shyamal to cases across several countries, coordinating with international authorities while building evidence around disappearances connected to Shyamal’s network of secret research locations.

• In Paris, Titli and Ritoban uncover records showing how Shyamal studied European occult collections, theatrical traditions, cabinets of curiosities, folklore, and historical accounts of unexplained creatures. These influences shaped his philosophy of supernatural curation.

• In Venice, Titli decodes architectural and visual clues leading to a hidden manuscript containing Shyamal’s catalogue of supernatural phenomena. It also describes his planned “final exhibition”—an unprecedented attempt to bring several documented supernatural forces together within one controlled environment.

• Titli and Ritoban grow closer as their trust becomes essential to survival. When either begins questioning what is real, the other becomes their point of reference, preventing Shyamal’s psychological manipulation from isolating them.

• In Prague, they locate Shyamal’s central base: part archive, part private museum, and part experimental environment containing records, artifacts associated with supernatural encounters, containment spaces, observation chambers, and evidence of entities Shyamal has spent years pursuing.

• The final confrontation becomes a battle of intellect, perception, and survival. Shyamal uses theatrical manipulation and psychological traps alongside supernatural phenomena he believes he can control. Titli systematically exposes his manufactured deceptions while Ritoban deciphers the historical knowledge behind the genuine manifestations.

• Shyamal’s greatest mistake becomes clear: curating the supernatural never meant controlling it. The entities and phenomena he has spent years collecting and provoking begin behaving outside his predictions, turning his carefully constructed final exhibition into chaos.

Act 5: মায়াজালের ধ্বংস (The Destruction of the Web of Illusion)

Setting: Kolkata (India)

• Shyamal’s international network is dismantled, exposing hidden research sites, records of supernatural encounters, psychological experiments, and the disturbing extent of his obsession with cataloguing phenomena beyond conventional understanding. Yet among the recovered archives are records of incidents that investigators cannot attribute to Shyamal’s methods, leaving open the possibility that some of what he documented was terrifyingly real.

• The Bagchi mansion is investigated thoroughly. Hidden mechanisms, optical tricks, surveillance equipment, concealed passages, projection systems, and psychological traps are uncovered—but several incidents remain impossible to reproduce or explain. Certain distorted reflections, unexplained sounds, shifting shadows, and environmental anomalies persist even after every known device connected to Shyamal has been removed.

• This revelation fundamentally changes Titli. She no longer treats every strange event as supernatural, nor does she automatically dismiss the inexplicable as illusion. Instead, she learns to observe, question, analyze, and trust evidence without allowing fear to determine her conclusions. Her extraordinary visual perception, once exploited by Shyamal, becomes a source of confidence rather than vulnerability.

• Ritoban stands beside her, their relationship strengthened through shared survival, intellectual trust, and emotional understanding. His worldview has also changed: rationality remains essential, but he accepts that rational investigation sometimes means acknowledging what has not yet been explained rather than forcing every mystery into a convenient explanation.

• ACP Mondal documents the criminal evidence surrounding Shyamal’s activities while deliberately separating provable crimes from phenomena the police cannot scientifically establish. His investigation ensures that Shyamal is held accountable for the disappearances, manipulation, unlawful experiments, and harm connected to his network, while the inexplicable elements of the case remain officially unresolved.

• Friends and family rally around Titli and Ritoban, restoring stability after months of uncertainty and fear. Jayabrato and Namrata begin reclaiming their home from the memories Shyamal imposed upon it, while the Kar family, Meghna, Prabir, and the Roychowdhurys help Titli and Ritoban rediscover ordinary life after spending so long questioning the nature of reality itself.

• The mansion gradually returns to normal as Shyamal’s hidden mechanisms and surveillance systems are dismantled, restoring warmth and everyday life. Yet occasional delayed reflections, unexplained shadows, and faint whispers remain. Titli no longer fears them; she watches carefully, aware that Shyamal may have exploited the mansion’s mysteries without creating them all.

• Standing before the mansion, Titli realizes Shyamal’s greatest illusion was making reality and deception seem absolute. When she briefly sees a familiar grinning figure reflected behind her and Ritoban, she turns to find nothing. Unafraid, Titli walks beside Ritoban toward the illuminated doorway, accepting that the boundary between illusion and reality may never be fully understood.
